Straightforward -- a to-do list laid out in a bullet-point schedule that is primed to do one thing: lose weight with dietary change and activity instruction with absolutely no guesswork.I've never picked up one of these books with so little of the author's voice intermingling in the text because there is no sideline conversation. -the diet forced me to change my portion sizes
-I was not usually hungry, because it had me eating many meals a day
-it laid out plenty of meal/snack options, so I didn't have to do much guesswork on my own
-it pushed me to find the very best options from restaurants. if I had to eat out, I made sure to substitute veggies for fries, only have one diet pop or beer, order grilled meats, etc
-I had to make time for breakfast, even if it wasn't a big one
Here's what I didn't like/why I didn't follow it super closely:
-the timing of the meal plan is very hard to follow if you work retail (or can't eat something every couple of hours).
-planning/preparing food was pretty time-consuming, which left me with less time to do the work-outs
-sometimes I didn't have the energy to do the workouts based on what I had eaten that day
-one day I started feeling faint, and realized I'd only had 1,000 calories. At that point i decided to follow the plan a little less closely and listen to my body.
Now that I'm off the diet, my stomach capacity has shrunk considerably. A normal lunch now makes me feel full the rest of the day, so I have to alter what I'm used to, portion-wise. Granted, I went a little nuts with the rehearsal dinner, wedding, etc. So I'll have to do some recon work and get in some good workouts. I will try to remember to update this review concerning what I did or didn't gain back.

Although I didn't lose the 20 pounds the book says you could lose in 4 weeks, I did lose 10 pounds in 3 weeks and I am happy with that result. The information in the book is very informative and it also includes many 100 and 150 calorie snacks along with soup and smoothie recipes. The technique is basically carb cycling which Dr. Ian Smith explains very well in the book. Each week has different meal plans that are outlined specifically to maximize your metabolism. I will definitely do this program in the future and I will use what I learned in my everyday healthy eating lifestyle.
Dr. Ian is also on Twitter and is available for guidance. He answered my question in the first week of dieting within 2 hours. Though I didn't lose 20 pounds, I'm still happy with the 10 I did lose and I'm happy I'm back into my favorite jeans!
If you're wanting to lose some weight in a short amount of time in a healthy way, you should give Super Shred a try.
...moreI love the clear way that Dr Ian Smith lays out the diet plan with meal plans that you can easily customize, and great low cal snack recipes.
The foods that you eat are sensible and healthy. No processed foods. Just whole food goodness.
After reading the book my only comment is Dr Ian Smith Super Shred is tough! I am using it as a great jump start program. Time will tell if it is effective. I have several issues with the program. The wake time coupled with the eating times are not easily followed if you work and have a family. I would ask that the time tables are adjusted for those who work to ensure success. Thank you.
Leave me alone just brought book today really u want a review well I don't have one okay
I also think it's bad u send these out not an hour after I got and then not let me pass it so I can review the book

Once I planned my days a few at a time ahead of time, book is easy to follow! looking forward to results at end of fourth week.
Dr Ian Smith has done it again, plans to live by. And as always simple repeatable steps make both Shred plans easy and fun to follow.
